

The mail contains critical documents such as legal contracts, correspondance, financial spreadsheets, … you get the idea. The mail database was corrupted and most of it lost when Outlook Express automatically performed a normal maintenance function to compact the files. The mail database is saved in its default location of C:Documents and Settings%userid%Local SettingsApplication DataIdentities%uid%MicrosoftOutlook Express*.dbx files. The system is Win XP Pro SP3 with all current updates installed and uses Outlook Express 6 for the mail client. We regularly perform full (not incremental) backups to DVDs skipping only OS Auxilary files which Paragon describes as “files like pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys, etc”.
